The long-awaited Navy Pier marina will finally open to boaters next month, following nearly a decade of development.
A boating experience a decade in the making
First reported by WGN, construction on the $22 million project has been underway since last year.
Developer Randy Podolsky told WGN that the marina was originally designed to give Lake Michigan boaters a short-term docking option near downtown. Podolsky reportedly first pitched the project in 2016.
Luxury boating accommodations on the lake
The marina won’t have permanent slips, instead providing short-term rental space to up to 150 boats for a day or more. Boaters will enjoy luxury accommodations including concierge assistance, on-site laundry, washrooms, and showers.
The docks are set to officially open on June 15 and bookings are now open.
