Following yesterday’s predictions of severe storms bringing damaging winds and potential hail to the Chicago area, today the weather seems to have turned up a notch.
The National Weather Service is warning that “an outbreak of dangerous severe thunderstorms” arriving tonight will be “capable of producing tornadoes and widespread damaging winds” in and around Chicago.
The day will start off unseasonably warm with humid and breezy conditions for much of the day giving way to severe thunderstorms tonight.
It is essential to have multiple ways of receiving severe weather warnings and making sure that you’re prepared for nighttime tornadoes by preparing effectively.
“With the threat for severe thunderstorms late into the night tonight, make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings, including at least a couple that will wake you up if needed,” writes the National Weather Service. “DO NOT rely on outdoor sirens to alert you indoors, especially while you’re asleep!”
As always, you can head to the National Weather Service website for all the latest weather news and forecasts in the Chicago area.
