Morton Arboretum is about to get a magical makeover with the debut of its new exhibition series, Vivid Creatures.
Beginning Saturday, May 17, the beloved botanical garden will transform into an enchanted forest featuring five towering, technicolor sculptures of animal life.
Vivid Creatures showcases the work of Portland-based artists Fez and Heather BeGaetz, whose larger-than-life sculptures explore the symbiotic relationship between animals and their ecosystems.
Visitors will encounter brightly colored installations of a deer, snail, squirrel, dragonfly, and sandhill crane—each reaching up to 24 feet tall—strategically placed in natural settings that reflect the animals’ real-life habitats.
This whimsical exhibition offers a unique opportunity to connect with art and nature alike, making it a must-see spring activity in Chicagoland.
Admission to Vivid Creatures is included with a standard ticket, keeping the experience both affordable and accessible.
