Set your alarms folks – it’s first come, first served.
In a bid to encourage better mask-wearing, the beloved Manny’s Deli will tomorrow (Tuesday, March 30) host a ‘Free Sandwich Day.’ The first 1000 customers who turn up properly wearing a mask will be given a sandwich completely free of charge by the award-winning deli.
In a tweet posted on March 15, Manny’s Deli challenged the public with maintaining proper mask usage for 30 days and offered the day of free sandwiches as a reward. Despite giving the public several extra chances and refusing to ‘throw in the towel’, the challenge was a failure as Manny’s Deli had to consistently correct customer mask usage.
The Free Sandwich Day will, however, now go ahead after all thanks to the generosity of an anonymous sponsor. The benefactor called in to offer financial support last week in response to a tweet posted by Manny’s Deli.
1,000 sandwiches will be now given to the first customers to arrive at the West Loop delicatessen from 9:30 am tomorrow until all 1000 sandwiches have been claimed. Manny’s Deli will limit it to one sandwich per customer and they will also be sending out free sandwiches to frontline workers operating a local vaccine clinic.
