The five-time Grammy Award-winning rapper has today announced a 2023 North American tour by the name of “Welcome To Tha Carter Tour” which will stop in Chicago in April.
Kicking off on April 4 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the rapper will then perform at Radius Chicago on Sunday, April 9 before wrapping up the tour in Los Angeles on Saturday, May 13.
Taking him all over the United States, as well as one stop in Canada, the “Welcome To Tha Carter Tour” will see Lil Wayne aka Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr. will perform in 28 cities in the space of 39 days this April and May.
The tour is named after his series of five albums called Tha Carter. An expected sixth album Tha Carter VI is mooted to be released this year but no official announcements have been made at the time of writing.
Having already won five Grammies Lil Wayne is nominated for a further three at this year’s ceremony taking place this weekend on Sunday, February 5. All three nominations are for his collaboration on the DJ Khaled song “God Did” which is up for Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song.
He’s also expected to receive the Global Impact Award at the Black Music Collective pre-Grammy event alongside Missy Elliott, Dr. Dre, and Epic Records CEO Sylvia Rhone which is awarded for “personal and professional achievements in the music industry.”
Tickets for the tour go on sale this coming Friday, February 3 at 10 am on Lilwayneofficial.com.
