Chicago’s Buckingham Fountain is about to shutdown for the winter season, and this weekend is your final chance to enjoy the elaborate water display until 2026.
The Chicago Park District will power-down the famous tiered fountain in Grant Park on Friday, October 31, according to an announcement shared on Twitter/X.
“Halloween, Fri., Oct. 31 is the final day to enjoy Chicago’s historic [Buckingham Fountain] & its amazing water displays,” wrote the park district.
When to catch the main display

Buckingham Fountain fully activates at the top of every hour between 9 a.m. and 10:35 p.m., according to the park district.
The main show lasts 20 minutes, during which time the fountain’s center jet reaches a height of 15o feet in the air.
The water show is accompanied by a light and music display beginning at dusk.
