There’s a new movie theater coming to a suburb outside of Chicago, and it’s said to be the largest movie screen in all of Illinois. The “Super EMX” auditorium, sitting inside a former Randall 15 Imax theater, will be located in Batavia, Illinois. It’s about 44 miles from Chicago, a short drive to see the largest screen in the state.
The theater is currently under construction and will become the Emagine Batavia theater. As for the largest screen, it will measure over 96 feet wide and plans to host ‘Hollywood ‘tent pole’ films’ AKA those big budget movies everyone clamors to see in theaters.

Officials involved have dubbed the screen inside the soon-to-be Super EMX auditorium, the ‘largest Cinemascope screen in the state’. As for the rest of the theater itself, moviegoers can expect a completely transformed space with a luxurious upscale feel along with 11 additional auditoriums and two private screening rooms.
Don’t worry, the seats will recline! An official press release says to expect ‘luxury heated recliners’ and ‘cuddle chairs’. The technology they’re using is at the top of its game as well. A 4K laser-projected image, paired with a Dolby Atmos immersive sound system featuring over 70 channels of sound, will work together to create a memorable experience. The grand opening is projected to be by the end of 2023. See the proposed layout here.
