Great news for Illinois residents who own a car in Chicago. You can now pay the required taxes and register your vehicle titles at the same time.
Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias announced that the Illinois Department of Revenue opened a permanent office inside the Secretary of State’s Flagship Center, located at 125 W. Monroe St.
This new office allows customers to pay vehicle-related taxes for a variety of services, enabling multiple tasks to be completed in a single visit.

Previously, vehicle owners had to provide a check or money order as payment when registering a vehicle for the first time. Now that IDOR services are available on-site, customers can pay with cash or credit/debit cards.
It’s important to note that these combined services are only offered at the Secretary of State’s Flagship Center.
Here is how to handle taxes and registration in 5 Minutes

- RUT-25-LSE Vehicle Use Tax Transaction Return for lease transactions
- RUT-50 Vehicle Use Tax Private Party Transaction Return for vehicles purchased from private parties
