John Blackburn, Studio Head at Avalanche Software, shared in a statement, “As fans of the Wizarding World, we’re honored to work with the franchise to create Hogwarts Legacy and provide fans a way to live out the fantasy of attending Hogwarts and exploring the world like never before.”
After exploring the world virtually, step into Harry’s world IRL at this interactive Chicago experience! In the video game, you’ll begin your journey as a fifth-year student and play a lead role in the immersive world, exploring the Wizarding World set in the 1800s. After you customize your character, players begin their adventure to Hogwarts, where wizards and witches learn how to cast spells, develop their combat style, and so much more! After you enjoy this one-of-a-kind experience in this magical virtual world, plan your adventure IRL during this limited-time journey to Hogwarts at Harry Potter™: Magic at Play on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile, created by Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment and Original X Productions.
But first, take a look at what you can expect while playing the game:
One of our favorite parts of the game is that players are sorted into one of the famed four houses—Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. And, at this Harry Potter™ experience at Water Tower Place, you’ll be able to get sorted into your house and take stunning photos with the famed hat.
2. Step Into The iconic Great Hall
The Great Hall at Hogwarts castle is undoubtedly one of the most famous areas of the Wizarding World—where students come together for delicious meals and festive gatherings. With its long communal tables and hundreds of flickering floating candles, it’s no wonder it’s a fan favorite in the movies, as well as in the new Hogwarts Legacy game.
A trip to the Magnificent Mile’s Harry Potter™ Experience will bring you directly into this intriguing space. As soon as you swing the heavy doors of the Great Hall open, you’ll notice that the creators of Harry Potter™: Magic at Play didn’t miss any details when designing this area of the experience.
The walls were aged to make it feel just like Hogwarts castle, and they even recreated the massive fireplace embellished with the famous crest celebrating the iconic school of witchcraft and wizardry. Of course, the designers didn’t miss the opportunity to showcase all those magnificent floating candles, which make the perfect backdrop for a photo op in front of the High Table and swoon-worthy stained glass window.
3. Learn how to make potions in classes
Of course, while exploring this famed school for wizards and witches as a student in Hogwarts Legacy, you’ll be able to take several classes just like at Hogwarts. During your virtual enrollment, you’ll explore your magical powers in Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, and Herbology and learn how to brew specialty spells in your potions class.
You can take what you’ve learned and apply it to your journey in your potions class at Harry Potter™: Magic at Play and learn how to make some potent concoctions like the Felix Felicis, better known as ‘liquid luck’ or the transformative Polyjuice Potion, as well as all of the other classes one can expect in the Wizarding World!
At this whimsical experience, you even get the chance to smell and take a closer look at the powerful ingredients too!
4. Wizards and witches…grab your brooms!
While you’ll be able to enjoy most of the parts of the Wizarding World that you love, playing Quidditch in the Hogwarts Legacy game is not an option. However, players can take a broom flight and embark on broom race challenges …
At this magical Harry Potter™ experience in Chicago, you can partake in Quidditch! There’s an entire area of green space to enjoy the sport, discover your ideal position, take lots of spectacular photos, and play several other fun games as well.
5. Venture to Hogsmeade for Butterbeer, Sweet Treats, and Your Wand
In the game, you can venture to Hogsmeade for Butterbeer at The Three Broomsticks and visit Honeydukes to treat yourself to delicious candy. Another place you must stop at is Ollivander’s Wand Shop, where your wand will choose you, which you can then customize to your liking and use throughout the game, of course.
At Magic at Play, while exploring Hogsmeade, be sure to stop and grab a bottle of Butterbeer, along with delicious treats like Bertie Botts Every-Flavour Beans and Chocolate Frogs.
The store can be found near the gift shop on the ground level, which you must peruse for unique gifts that will make your journey to Hogwarts complete with memorable souvenirs like the exclusive Harry Potter™: Magic at play wand that highlights all four houses. For a limited time, enjoy a weekday special with tickets starting at $19 for kids and $27 for adults!
