The empire that is Hello Kitty can not be overstated. What began as a fashion mascot imprinted on a coin purse, has grown into various TV series, video games, and albums; merchandise lines of epic proportions, including toys, backpacks, toasters, and luxury “items” such as restaurants, jewelry, and jet airliners just to name a few.
In 2014, Hello Kitty steered into the food truck business. Their pop-up cafe food truck has since driven across the country each year, parking in various cities around the globe to deliver themed food, drinks, and merchandise to adoring fans. This month, it’s coming to Illinois.
The truck will swing by west of Chicago stopping at the Oakbrook Center from 10 a.m. until 7 pm on Saturday, June 15 before it heads down to Orland Park the following weekend on Saturday, June 22.
“Hello Chicago! The Hello Kitty Cafe Truck is returning to Oakbrook Center on Saturday 6/15! Come say hello to us between Macy’s & Seasons52 from 10am-7pm and pick up some supercute treats & merch, while supplies last! See you there!” reads the official release.
Its menu features an assortment of sweets available in packages varying in number. This includes minicakes, macarons, cookies, madeleines, and giant Hello Kitty chef cookies $15 a piece.
As mentioned, the truck will also have a variety of Hello Kitty merchandise for purchase with prices ranging from $15 for a charm keychain to $70 for a hoodie.
