It’s been a big year for Potterheads with the world premiere of Harry Potter™: Magic at Play in Chicago, the launch of the massively popular Hogwarts Legacy game and now a brand new TV series that will introduce the beloved franchise to a swarm of new fans around the world.
Warner Bros. Discovery has officially announced a new multi-season Harry Potter™ series inspired by author J.K. Rowling’s best-selling books. The series of seven novels first came onto the scene in 1997 with the release of the first movie, ‘Harry Potter™ and the Sorcerer’s Stone,’ starring Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson in 2001, releasing eight films in total.

Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content, shared in a press release, “We are delighted to give audiences the opportunity to discover Hogwarts™ in a whole new way.”
“Harry Potter™ is a cultural phenomenon, and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World™. In partnership with Warner Bros. Television and J.K. Rowling, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy for all of these years,” Bloys explained.
As for the timeline on the release date, HBO Max, which recently merged with Discovery+, will simply be known as MAX, has said that this Harry Potter™ project will be given a 10-year-commitment with plans to be released in 2025/26. The executive producer for the series will be J.K. Rowling to ensure the integrity of the books gets translated to the small screen, along with Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts.Go on a journey to Hogwarts™, starting from Privet Drive to Platform 9 ¾™, and find your way to the iconic Great Hall.
While waiting for this brand-new series to drop, Chicagoans can get their Wizarding World™ fix at a magical 30,000-square-foot Harry Potter™: Magic at Play experience on the Magnificent Mile. Wizards, witches, and muggles of all ages can explore all of the delights of the Wizarding World™ right here in the Windy City, but only for a limited time.
The experience, created by Warner Bros. Themed Entertainment and Original X Productions, allows you to step into Harry’s world to relive some of the top moments from the beloved books and movies. Tour the famed home at 4 Privet Drive (and peek under the stairs), check out the iconic Platform 9 ¾™, a replica of the Hogwarts Express™, and of course, get your chance to step into the iconic Great Hall once you arrive at Hogwarts™!
