When one thinks of camping, it’s of pitching a tent in a field, forest, or some other natural landscape not too far from home in an attempt to escape the hassle of urban life. Those days spent finding the appropriate floor space, fitting the tent frame, knocking in the ground stakes, and laying out sleeping bags come flooding back.
Let’s face it, there are two kinds of people: those who get a kick out of snuggling up under the sound of pitter-patter or huddling around a campfire and those who deeply despise leaving home comforts behind and eagerly await the return to the city.
In Chicago, there is a solution to that age-old problem and a unique Chicago experience unlike any other.
Every year starting in May Chicago’s award-winning Gwen Hotel begins offering the city’s first and only urban glamping experience on the private terrace of the hotel’s stunning Gwen Lux Suite.
Perched up on the 16th floor of the landmark McGraw-Hill building, guests can enjoy over 1,000 square feet of private terrace and sensational sweeping views over Michigan Avenue all to themselves.
In the middle of the Gwen Lux Suite Terrace, guests will now find an expansive Lotus Belle tent measuring 16 feet in diameter and decked out with an eclectic bohemian aesthetic.
Inside optimum comfort is provided by an array of lavish furnishings such as drum side tables, hand-knotted macramé seat cushions, a braided Indian jute rug, and a centerpiece queen-sized Black Pearl bed, designed exclusively for the Luxury Collection hotels’ brand.
The exclusive Glamping Experience hotel package includes access to the two-bedroom suite as well as a dining room, living room with a wet bar, and two-and-a-half baths.
According to the hotel’s website “The Gwen Glamping experience can accommodate up to six guests and is available for stays between May and September 30, 2024, with rates ranging from $3,500 to $5,500 based on availability.”
