With the worst of the pandemic now behind us, cherished traditions are returning to in-person formats, exciting new experiences are announcing themselves, and Chicago’s array of exciting activities have returned to venues all over the city. It’s time to fill our calendars with experiences of all sorts and make up for the memories we lost.
Of all the events taking place across Chicago, there are few that provide the same exhilarating spectacle as West Loop’s enigmatic speakeasy, The Grand Cabaret After Dark.
Speakeasies are deep-rooted in Chicago’s history. These hidden gems harken back to prohibition-era Chicago when the jazz was hot, the burlesque hotter, and bootlegger booze was bountiful. While modern speakeasies aren’t quite as secret, they’re still a fun throwback to the clandestine hideouts of days gone by and always ensure an evening that will live long in the memory.
The Grand Cabaret After Dark, hosted in Porkchop’s secret backroom space at 1132 West Grand Avenue, is one such speakeasy experience that offers an unforgettable night of merrymaking. Entering this enigmatic hideout, guests will feel their surroundings rolling back to when these secret venues were the most vibrant of places, and before you know it you’ll be forgetting all about the world outside.
Taking place on Saturdays and Sundays, The Grand Cabaret After Dark fuses music, magic, and mystery, providing enthralling entertainment enjoyed alongside a delectable pre-fixe dinner. With distinctive, soulful sounds from John Sturk Duo and mesmerizing magic from the talented Jim Bergstrom, you can be sure you’ll leave with your senses more than satisfied, and your expectations exceeded.
Guests can choose a soup or salad to start, one of 6 different delicious entrées, and then two side dishes to feast on as the revelry unravels. A full bar offering a wide range of cocktails and drinks also allows attends to their adult beverage needs throughout the night.
Reservations include private table seating for patrons from 6 pm – 10 pm. The evening starts with your meal upon seating whilst two hours of accompanying musical masterpieces will last from 6 to 8 pm before the clatter of cutlery and crockery calms, all sounds settle, and magic takes over the room from 8:15 pm.
