The internationally-renowned chef is daring Chicago to eat Hot Dogs with ketchup.
Gordon Ramsay has opened numerous successful restaurants around the world amassing 16 Michelin stars in the process. Having opened his first restaurant back in 1997, the celebrity chef is now finally venturing into the Chicago restaurant scene with a ritzy new burger restaurant.
The new burger joint will take over a 5,000-square-foot space at the corner of N. State Street and E. Ontario Street, where Wahlburgers used to be. There will be a full island bar and seating for 120 people.

The star of Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares broke the news via a video posted on his social media channels last week saying “I’ve got some very, very exciting news to share with you all. Gordon Ramsay Burger is coming to Chicago. That’s right the Windy City is getting my delicious butter-baked burgers that so many of you have come to enjoy in Las Vegas. Along with hellfire chicken wings, shakes, and one of the most beautifully designed burger restaurants anywhere in the US. I promise you you’re gonna love it, I cant wait to see you in the River North area soon.”
According to the Chicago Tribune, “the American menu features thick patties (with plant-based options), fries, milkshakes and hot dogs, including a Straight Up Dawg ($16.99), with a footlong hot dog, pickles, onions, mustard, and ketchup.” When asked ‘What would you say to a Chicagoan who traditionally says no ketchup on hot dogs?’ Ramsay said, “Like I have with vegans, give it a chance.”
Named ‘Gordon Ramsay Burger’ the exciting new downtown restaurant is slated to open towards the end of 2021 or early in 2022 and Ramsay has said he plans to be there for the opening.
