Goose Island closed its original Clybourn Avenue brewery at the end of 2023, ending a 35-year stay. It will soon reside in Chicago’s exciting new Salt Shed entertainment complex.
Located at 1357 N. Elston Ave—less than a mile from its original Clybourn Avenue address—the new brewpub will open this Friday, May 3rd, just across the river from the namesake island.
According to representatives, it will feature “both indoor and outdoor seating, a revamped menu, and an ever-changing beer list,” adding to the already astounding caliber of brewpubs and taprooms in Chicago.
Having opened in 2022 the former Morton Salt complex, The Salt Shed has quickly become one of Chicago’s best live music venues.
Initially only hosting outdoor concerts, its long-awaited indoor concert hall opened in 2023 with a roster of concerts followed by markets. It has since organized summer markets, film festivals, and more, becoming one of the most happening spots in the city.
The new brewpub will offer beers on draft, including Bourbon County Stout, Beer Hug, and 312, as well as rotating new brews from head brewer Mike Jacobs. Executive chef Henry Pariser will be in charge of the food options, meanwhile, with some classic Clybourn options returning, such as a smash burger, a smoked trout melt, and a burnt carrot sandwich.
Goose Island Salt Shed Pub will open tomorrow at 1357 N Elston Ave.
