We may just have entered spring but Chicago’s best summer events and experiences are beginning to announce themselves.
On the back of various iconic summer highlights like Sundays on State and Millennium Park’s anniversary celebration revealing information and dates for their upcoming returns, another typical Chicago summer experience, Gallagher Way’s schedule of free outdoor events, have been announced.
The full 2024 summer lineup features outdoor movie showings, fitness classes, live music, and more, most of which will be free to the public though there will be some special admission tickets for certain events.
The schedule of outdoor movie showings is as follows:
- The Super Mario Bros Movie on Wednesday, May 15th
- High School Musical 2 Wednesday, May 29th
- Wonka on Wednesday, June 12th
- Barbie on Wednesday, June 26th
- School of Rock on Wednesday, July 10th
- Angels in the Outfield on Wednesday, July 17th
- Soul on Wednesday, July 31st
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone on Wednesday, August 14th
- Twilight on Wednesday, September 11th
*Another movie will be added on Wednesday, August 28th
Movies will begin each night at 7:30 p.m. with gates opening at 6 p.m.
There will also be Wiggleworms music programs taking place at Gallagher Way every Tuesday at 10 a.m. from May 14 through September and fitness classes from May 13 through September.
Wrigleyville’s Night Market will then return on Thursday, May 30th, and run every Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. through September.
Other one-off events to look out for are as follows:
- The Rock and Roll Playhouse will kick off on May 12th with concerts starting at 11 a.m.
- Old Town School of Folk Music Happy Hours on select Tuesdays through summer beginning at 5 p.m.
- WingOut Chicago on Saturday, May 25th, and Sunday, May 26th.
- Friday Night Flights on Friday, June 7th, at both 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.
- Rosé & Croquet on July 27th from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- Golf Day at Gallagher Way on July 28th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Wine Down on August 24 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Budweiser Concert Series will also take place this summer but details have not yet been released.
