Grab a free slice of Pepsi-Roni pizza this Friday at Aurelio’s Pizza. From 11 AM to 3 PM, the Chicago pizzeria will be serving up an eclectic slice dedicated to reimagining pizza.
What exactly is a Pepsi-Roni pizza? Well, you know pepperoni, right? It was created back in the day to enhance the taste of pizza. Now, Pepsi enlisted CIA chefs to reimagine and engineer “a new type of pepperoni specifically to celebrate National Pizza Day last week.” The innovative topping is “infused with the rich caramel notes and brown spices with the citrusy pop of Pepsi cola.”
According to the website, the unique topping recipe was designed by Pepsi and CIA Consulting to include a “Pepsi® Zero Sugar reduction instead of the water typically used in pepperoni preparation and layers the sweet and citrus zests Pepsi is known for with the standard spice blends found in pepperoni.”
The pizza debuted in New York last week and is now making its way to cities like Chicago, LA, Detroit and Miami amongst others.
The campaign is all about promoting the fact that pizza is #BetterWithPepsi. The specialty pizza is only available on Friday and as of now, there’s no word on if it will be added to the official menu so grab a slice while you can.
