If you’re looking to shop at Foxtrot and Dom’s Kitchen & Market this afternoon, you’ll come across empty storefronts. As of Tuesday, April 23, Foxtrot and Dom’s Kitchen & Market immediately closed all their stores in Chicago, Texas, and the D.C. area.
The company’s announcement, posted around 11:30 a.m. Central Time, was notably sparse.
“This decision has not been made lightly, and we understand the impact it will have on you, our loyal customers, as well as our dedicated team members. We want to express our sincerest gratitude for your support and patronage throughout the years. It has been our highest honor to elevate the everyday and create a remarkable shopping experience for people who love food as much as we do. It has been a privilege serving you and being a part of your everyday lives.”
The new company appears headed for bankruptcy; however, the announcement failed to mention that in a vague explanation of the sudden closures, only noting that it had been a “challenging time.”
The news comes less than six months after Foxtrot and Dom’s Kitchen & Market announced their merger.
The two Chicago-based specialty retailers have made a name for themselves. Dom’s Kitchen & Market opened its first store in Chicago in 2021, providing globally inspired products and locally sourced food from Chicago and Midwest entrepreneurs. Foxtrot Market opened almost a decade earlier, in 2014. The neighborhood market featured a coffee bar and local products from small and local makers.
Planning to head there after work or this weekend? Sorry, it looks like you’ll have to find a new store.
