Save our local restaurants!
Restaurants have been one of the hardest-hit industries during the coronavirus crisis. With no one allowed to dine out right now, many food industry employees are experiencing cut hours and lay-offs. Other restaurants have been forced to shut down completely. As part of an initiative to keep these businesses afloat, the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Virtual Restaurant Week March 20-30.
Chicagoans are encouraged to order delivery or pick-up from their favorite local restaurants. Some restaurants are even offering specials for anyone who orders during this week. It’s also helpful to post pictures of your meals online with the hashtags like #SaveRestaurants, #VirtualRestaurantWeek, and/or #GreatAmericanTakeout. You should also tag the restaurant you ordered from to throw some free promotion their way.
The new initiative is reminiscent of Chicago Restaurant Week, an annual celebration of Chicago foodies and culinary artists. You can find the list of participating businesses on the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce’s website. Please also consider tipping well to support restaurant employees during this difficult time.
Save Chicago’s restaurants. Order delivery tonight!
