We are officially in the midst of winter, which has its drawbacks but also brings some perks, such as the return of “The Bear” to Chicago for filming season five!
According to the Chicago Sun-Times , this week the cast and crew are filming in Ukrainian Village, as indicated by bright pink filming notices posted throughout the neighborhood.
The Bear has begun filming season 5
On Tuesday, dozens of production vehicles marked with the name “The Fugitive,” a code name for the series, lined both sides of Cortez Street. This code name is a nod to the 1993 film of the same name, which was also primarily filmed in Chicago and starred Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones.
Despite the code name, it didn’t take long for onlookers to realize that the scenes being filmed were actually for “The Bear,” especially after actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach was seen on a residential street.
However, this is not the only location where the cast has been spotted. Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Ayo Edebiri were seen in Wicker Park, where they stopped by Dove’s Luncheonette for a meal last Sunday.

Ebon is known for playing “Cousin” Richie, and Ayo is known for playing Sydney Adamu on the hit show.
During their visit, the duo enjoyed chicken fried chicken, breakfast potatoes, masa pancakes, FX’ssteak frites, and took time to chat with bartender Courtland Green over mezcal-inspired cocktails.
