If you’re planning to take the L this weekend, you should plan ahead and allow extra travel time. The CTA has announced that three Loop stations will be temporarily closed for the State/Lake reconstruction project over the next two weekends.
Major CTA service changes start this Saturday
During the weekends of July 18–20 and July 25–27, work will require temporary service reroutes on the Loop Elevated, along with the following CTA station closures:
- Washington/Wabash
- Adams/Wabash
- Clark/Lake (elevated portion)

Over the course of these two weekends, only the Green, Brown, and Orange Line trains will operate on the Wells and Van Buren branches of the Loop Elevated. The Washington/Wabash, Adams/Wabash stations, and the elevated section of Clark/Lake (which serves the Green, Brown, and Orange lines) will be closed during this time. However, Blue Line service will still operate at Clark/Lake via the subway.
