Molson Coors, in partnership with The City of Chicago, is offering fare-free rides on CTA once again this New Year’s Eve to make sure you make it home safely on the last night of the year.
This is the 35th year of the Miller Lite Free Rides Program which annually sponsors free mass transit options for those in Chicago. This year residents will be able to travel completely free across all CTA lines from 10 p.m. on Sunday, December 31st through to 4 a.m. on Monday, January 1.
Make sure you refrain from tapping your Ventra or personal bank cards, as the CTA is not offering refunds to people who accidentally pay. There will be signs with reminders.
“We firmly believe that Chicago is one of the greatest cities to welcome in the new year, and we take immense pride in enhancing the celebrations of residents and visitors alike through fare-free transportation,” said CTA President Dorval R. Carter, Jr.
“We appreciate having a decadelong partnership with Molson Coors that has enriched the New Years’ experience for Chicagoans.”
Since its inception in 1988, the Free Rides program has become a beloved tradition offering fare-free rides to more than 8 million individuals across the United States.
During last year’s New Year’s Eve Free Rides in Chicago, roughly 60,000 individuals took advantage of the complimentary transit to ring in the new year responsibly and safely.
In addition to Chicago, Molson Coors will also offer fare-free rides to residents in Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Milwaukee, Phoenix, and the Twin Cities this New Year’s Eve.
If you’re planning to travel via transit outside of these free hours, the CTA recommends buying tickets in advance as this will help decrease travel time and long lines.
Please take note that alcohol is prohibited on all services after 7 p.m. Riders can visit transitchicago.com to review transit routes.
