Chicago wants to make sure you make it home safely this New Year’s Eve and is offering free rides on CTA– from 10 p.m. Saturday until 4 a.m. Sunday. Use the public transit system courtesy of Miller Lite! Don’t worry about tapping your card either, as the CTA is not offering refunds to people who accidently pay!
Pace fand the CTA will be free on select hours this New Year’s Eve! Travel free on all Metra trains from any downtown station this Saturday after 6 p.m. By providing free bus rides and ADA paratransit rides on New Year’s Eve on into the morning of New Year’s Day, the city hopes to encourage revelers to take advantage of the free offer from 10 p.m. Saturday night to 4 a.m. on Sunday!
This is Miller Lite’s 34th sponsoring free mass transit options to those in Chicago! The Free Rides Program has become a tradition and this year’s program options are the largest to date!
The CTA is offering free rides through a sponsorship by Miller Lite, by providing a safe and reliable way to get around the city. In the free-ride period, make sure you don’t to touch your Ventra or personal bankcards at all! Miller Lite is paying the fee during these hours, so keep your card tucked away at all rail station turnstiles and buses. There will be signs posted on bus fare boxes with reminders- and Miller Lite will also help offset the CTA’s operating costs to run during these NYE h0urs. Alcohol is prohibited on all servies after 7 p.m.
If you’re planning to travel via trasit outside of these free hours, the CTA recommends buying tickets in advance as this will help decrease travel time and long lines.
On New Year’s Eve, the commuter rail system plans to operate on a Saturday schedule, and will hold the last outbound trains on the lines so they can operate until at least 1:15 a.m. on Sunday. All CTA bus and rail services will work on a normal Sunday schedule on January 1st and Monday January 2nd.
