Chicagoans enjoyed a taste of summer on Monday, with regional highs reaching nearly 80 degrees.
But hold onto your coats Chicago—the weather warm-up won’t last long. Severe storms and a steep cool-down are in store for the rest of the week.
Here’s a breakdown of the forecast.
Multiple rounds of storms beginning Tuesday

Following Monday’s warm-up, an extended round of storms with move into the Chicago region, according to predictions from the National Weather Service.
Thunderstorms are possible beginning early Tuesday morning and lasting for much of the day, with a high of 71 degrees and 80% chance of precipitation overall.
Come Wednesday, temperatures will drop nearly 30 degrees to a high of only 43, with a 60% chance of showers throughout the day and additional thunderstorms into the night.
The rainy weather pattern will carry into Thursday, with another full day of showers and a high of 68.

Our next chance for sunshine will arrive Friday, with partly sunny conditions and a high of 57.
