Chicago is in the midst of a whacky weather pattern—and if this week’s forecast is any indication, there’s no end in sight!
Predictions from the National Weather Service (NWS) show temperatures will climb near 80 degrees later this week—with storms and a major temperature drop immediately following.
Here’s a breakdown of the forecast.
High of 76 Thursday, high of 38 Friday

Chicagoans woke up to a chilly high of 36 degrees Monday, and wind gusts up to 30 mph.
Despite the winter-like start to the week, things will take a sharp turn for the warmer Tuesday and Wednesday as highs hover between the 50s and low 60s.
Come Thursday, the high will soar to 76 degrees, more than 20 degrees above average for this time of year, according to data from the NWS.
The unseasonably warm temperatures will come with a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Thursday.

And by Friday, it will be feeling like winter once again with a high of just 38 degrees.
This weekend will see more temperate daily highs in the low to mid 50s.
So buckle up Chicago—it’s going to be another week of wild weather in the Windy City!
