Chicago is in the midst of a long overdue weather warm-up—but the summer-like temperatures come with a catch.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Cook County ahead of severe storms this week.
Here’s a look at what’s on the radar.
Severe storms, flooding possible Tuesday and Wednesday

Scattered storms are possible beginning Monday night in the Chicago region.
The NWS predicts a 50% chance of thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Tuesday, with wind gusts up to 30mph.
Tuesday will see a high of 80 degrees and thunderstorms after 5 p.m.
The NWS predicts a level 3 of 5 thunderstorm risk Tuesday, with some storms becoming severe and flash flooding possible.

Showers and storms will continue throughout the day Wednesday, with a 90% chance of precipitation.
Additional chances for rain are possible Thursday, with skies finally clearing by Friday.
