St. Patrick’s Day weekend in Chicago is almost upon us, and if you’re heading downtown for the Green River Dyeing on Saturday you’ll want to bundle up—it’s going to be feeling like winter in the Windy City.
According to predictions from the National Weather Service (NWS), Chicago could see multiple chances for snow, rain, and near-freezing temperatures this weekend.
Here’s a breakdown of your local St. Paddy’s forecast!
High winds, snow, and rain this weekend

Chicagoans woke up to blustery conditions Friday morning, with the NWS issuing a High Wind Warning amid gusts up to 55 mph. Temperatures will top out at just 43 degrees Friday before dropping to an overnight low of 33 degrees.
For Saturday’s St. Paddy’s Day festivities, Chicagoans can expect a 20% chance of snow showers before 4 p.m. and a high of only 40 degrees.
Additional snow flurries and rain will continue into Saturday night, with temperatures dropping to a low of 37 degrees.

Come Sunday, we’ll see a 60% chance of showers throughout the day with a possible thunderstorm in the afternoon. The high will ascend to 59 degrees , with wind gusts reaching 30 mph.
The thermometer spike will be short-lived, however, with temperatures falling to a frigid 24 degrees come nighttime and snow showers moving in.
By the start of next week, it will be feeling more like January in Chicago than mid-March, with sub-freezing temperatures and snow in store.
