Chicago is in the middle of an unpredictable spring weather cycle—and conditions are only about to get crazier.
The Windy City could see a bout of severe storms tonight as a cold front moves through the region.
Here’s a breakdown of the forecast and what to know to stay safe.
Hazardous weather outlook in effect for Cook County ahead of Thursday storms

A Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect for Cook County, according to the National Weather Service.
The NWS predicts storms will develop Thursday afternoon mainly after 4 p.m., including thunderstorms which could be severe.
The daily high will peak at 65 degrees around noon before rapidly falling to the upper 40s for the later part of the day.
Wind gusts up to 40mph are also possible, with an 80% chance of precipitation overall.

The system will move relatively quickly, however, as skies will clear by Friday.
So buckle up, Chicago, and pack a poncho if you’re heading to the Cubs opening Day—it’s going to be a soggy night in the Windy City.
