Chicago has been ranked the second best city in Time Out’s annual global survey. More than 20,000 city-dwellers took part in the 2022 Time Out index which ranked Chicago so high up the list.
The survey asked voters to consider different aspects of each city including nightlife, food and drink, arts and culture, affordability, walkability, public transportation, and more. Not only was Chicago placed second behind only Edinburgh but it was the only city in the U.S. to make the top 10 with New York coming in next and number 20.
“The list, which is comprised of 53 cities, calls attention to Chicago’s vibrant food and beverage scene, highlighting Kasama, the first-ever Michelin-starred Filipino bakery, cafe, and tasting menu (1001 N Winchester Ave.).
Other highlights called attention to Chicago’s resilience (which was recognized as the fourth highest in the world) and acknowledged its recent resurgence coming out stronger and more united after two years of on-off restrictions.
So much so, in fact, it was voted Time Out’s most fun city in the world this year. 96 percent of locals rated Chicago favorably for its food and drink scene while 95 percent also voted in favor of the city’s art and culture scene.
All in all, Chicago scored itself a top spot as usual.
