Is your local Chicago park in need of some upgrades? The Chicago Park District (CPD) wants to hear from you.
The CPD is eliciting public input regarding how it should allocate an inaugural fund toward park improvements.
Here’s what to know and where to cast your vote.
Your Voice, Your Parks campaign
The CPD is inviting local residents to engage with its participatory budgeting process through the Your Voice, Your Parks initiative.
Earlier in 2026, the CPD began accepting proposals for a $500,000 investment in infrastructure upgrades needed at parks around the city.
The CPD received more than 1,000 responses, and has since divided them into four categories which Chicagoans can now vote on:
- Accessibility, Public Safety and Inclusion
- Examples include: ADA accessible playground, ramps, lighting and security cameras
- Recreation Infrastructure
- Examples include: Ballfield/sports courts rehab
- Permanent Fixtures and Park Amenities
- Examples include: Benches, picnic tables, bike racks
- Nature and Beautification
- Examples include: Trees, pollinator gardens, nature play spaces
“We are excited to see our Chicago community, specifically park users and stakeholders, getting involved and providing feedback to ensure that park improvements align with community expectations and needs citywide,” said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO, Carlos Ramirez-Rosa.
“As we continue the process, we encourage residents to vote on the broader categories that they would like the Park District to prioritize for implementation and resource allocation.”
