We were already confident that we were the best, but if you need more evidence, Resonance ranked Chicago as the second-best city in America.
As a major metropolis in the Midwest, Chicago remains on top due to its infrastructure and affordability, which many other global cities lack. However, it stands at number 2 due to a couple of reasons: the convention center and nightlife.
According to World Business Chicago, the city’s economic development arm, there has been a significant influx of investment in the city over the past year. This includes the establishment of the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Chicago, a $275-million biomedical research hub in Fulton Market, and a $20-million tech workforce and training center in Grand Crossing.
Resonance has mentioned its iconic music scene, stating, “[The] dance card hasn’t been this full in years.” This year, dozens of summer festivals are happening, ranging from the Windy City Smokeout and Lollapalooza to the free shows at the Millennium Park Summer Music Series at Jay Pritzker Pavilion, with everything from house music to orchestras.
Along with the Chicago nightclubs and music festivals, we’re #3-ranked in restaurants, delivering vibrant culinary experiences once again. This is partially due to the FX series The Bear and the influence of Chef José Andrés’ acclaimed three-year-old establishment, Bazaar Meat, and Bar Mar, nestled within the new Chicago headquarters of Bank of America.
Who ranked number one? Well, that esteemed spot went to NYC, ranking for a ninth consecutive year. You can look through the full list here.
