The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Lyft are teaming up for a major expansion of the Divvy Bike system in 2026.
Here’s a look at the 2026 goals and how the plan will improve Divvy access in your neighborhood!
CDOT and Lyft set ambitious 200+ station goal for 2026

CDOT and Lyft have set a goal of more than 200 new or upgraded Divvy stations citywide in 2026.
The news comes after developers successfully added 140 new stations in 2025, according to a release from the mayor’s office.
The expansion promises to enhance access to bikes, e-bikes, and e-scooters in line with the city’s goal of four stations every square mile.
Chicagoans can expect better access along the lakefront, more stations in high-traffic areas, and added capacity at busy stations.

Mayor Brandon Johnson celebrated the expansion in a statement, saying “Divvy is a key part of Chicago’s transportation network…”
“By keeping memberships affordable and expanding the system to more neighborhoods, we are ensuring that shared mobility remains a convenient, reliable option no matter where you live in our city.”
