The Chicago Cubs 2016 World Series win marked a watershed moment in professional baseball—now the team is commemorating the historic victory with a permanent addition to Wrigley Field.
The Cubs announced the debut of Champions Gate on Monday, June 22, a new entry point and monument at Gallagher Way.
“Created as a tribute to the Chicago Cubs’ World Series championships, the monument honors the players and managers behind the franchise’s greatest achievements,” wrote the team in a Twitter/X post.
The gateway will pay tribute not only to the 2016 World Series team, but to the winning Cubs rosters of 1907 and 1908.
Additionally, the gate will feature space for any future World Series wins for the Cubs.
The gate will be dedicated during a special ceremony at Gallagher Way on Saturday, July 18.
