Regardless of where you’re from, your culture, or your background, there is a very good chance that, at some point in your younger years, you experienced the exhilarating thrill of playing hide-and-seek with childhood friends.
The rush of adrenaline eagerly investigating the best hiding spots you can find, the anticipation as you wait hidden out of sight, the heart racing as you hear the sound of footsteps—the whole process brings back a wave of nostalgia when life was far more simple and yet still so very exciting.
It’s easy as an adult to long for those carefree childhood experiences, and now, thanks to the Chicago Children’s Museum, anybody 21 and over can bring back that sense of childlike wonder and let their inner child run wild at a one-off adults-only hide-and-seek event this weekend.
On Saturday, May 4th, from 7 p.m. until 11 p.m., “Camp Hide N Seek” at the Chicago Children’s Museum will offer adults the chance to enjoy a special fundraising event inviting guests to eat, drink, and play in the museum grounds after hours.
There will be three open bars, “hearty appetizers,” dancing, live music, a photo booth, and camp-inspired activities, including S’mores on the terrace, friendship bracelet-making, Cardboard Derby, bag toss, karaoke, and friendly games of “flip cup.”
Attendees are asked to sport their best “glamping” cocktail attire to the one-night-only event.
According to a release sent to Secret Chicago, “funds raised during the event will support the museum’s community inclusion initiatives programs including Museums for All, Play for All, arts programming and STEM hands-on programming.”
Tickets and more information can be found at The Chicago Children’s Museum.
