At the Chicago Botanic Garden, the summer season is coming to a close with a dazzling finale—a captivating art installation that will leave you mesmerized.
At “Shimmering Summer,” giant, iridescent bubbles are displayed throughout the fields, waters, and pathways of the garden, soaring up to 25 feet high.
Chicago Botanic Garden brings 25-foot iridescent bubbles to its grounds
This immersive sculpture installation, titled “Evanescent,” is created by Australian artists Renzo Larriviere and Zara Pasfield. According to the Chicago Tribune, the installation aims to capture the “ephemerality and fragility of life” through the form of a bubble.
It marks the first time “Evanescent” has been showcased in a botanic garden.
To enhance the “Shimmering Summer” experience, the Chicago Botanic Garden has organized various events and classes inspired by the bubbles. On weekends, you can enjoy live bubble performances, hula-hoop artists, juggling, and music on select days at Festival Field.
The installation is open until September 20 and is included with general garden admission.
