A new era is underway at the Chicago Blackhawks—yet it will feel nostalgic in some ways.
Next week, as the Chicago Blackhawks open their 2026–27 home schedule against the St. Louis Blues, fans will get to see Connor Bedard wearing an uppercase “C” on his jersey as the team’s newest captain, alongside Patrick Kane in a Blackhawks jersey—a special moment for both Blackhawks.
There’s one important caveat for fans expecting to see them play together at the opener: Bedard had shoulder surgery in July and is expected to return in November.
Kane’s return to United Center will still make this a memorable night, but don’t expect to see Bedard on the ice.
