Chicago’s Jackson Park is set to undergo a remarkable transformation with the much-anticipated return of its beloved cherry blossom trees next month.
However, the timing of Chicago’s cherry blossom season can be quite unpredictable, primarily due to the notorious lake effect winds.

Jackson Park’s cherry blossoms are set to return
The blooms typically peak between mid-April and mid-May—if they manage to survive the unpredictable conditions of spring—and last for just about a week.
Jackson Park is the city’s most famous location for cherry blossoms, positioned along Lake Michigan, which makes its nearly 200 young cherry trees particularly susceptible to cold snaps and frigid winds. In fact, there are some years when the park doesn’t see any blooms at all.
