Don’t miss the annual event where you can ride your bicycle on DuSable Lake Shore Drive—Bike The Drive 2026 is officially happening this Sunday!
This special biking event closes the lakeside thoroughfare to vehicle traffic, allowing cyclists to enjoy a scenic 30-mile route with designated rest stops, water, and snacks.
Chicago’s massive 30-mile bike ride takes over DuSable Lake Shore Drive
You’ll need to wake up early—sorry, late risers! When you get there, you can enter the ride at any of the designated entry points along the road.
Entry Locations: Riders can enter DuSable Lake Shore Drive at any of the following locations:
- Main Festival (Grant Park)
- Bryn Mawr Ave – Fullerton Ave
- Oakwood Blvd
- Museum of Science & Industry
Bike The Drive 2026 ride schedule
6:30 a.m. – Official Start: DuSable Lake Shore Drive will open to cyclists, subject to police approval. We recommend starting by 8 a.m. to make the most of your ride.
10:30 a.m. – Closures Begin: No new cyclists will be allowed onto DuSable Lake Shore Drive at Jackson. Please follow the instructions of volunteers and course officials.
10:35-10:45 a.m. – Checkpoints: By 10:35 a.m., all riders must be situated north of Randolph Street or south of Roosevelt Road. At 10:45 a.m., riders will be directed to the festival at the Oakwood and Fullerton checkpoints. –
10:45-11:15 a.m. – Rolling Closures: Depending on your location, riders will be guided off DuSable Lake Shore Drive onto the Lakefront Trail to return to the festival.
11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Full Closure: Car traffic will resume on DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
After the ride, head to Grant Park for live music, a breakfast festival featuring pancakes from Chris Cakes, and a Revolution Brewing beer garden!
