You can receive a $500 per month grant for an entire year through the Chicago Resilient Communities Pilot Program. The program, which will be administered by nonprofit GiveDirectly, was initially set up to financially support low-income residents as the economy continued to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
In order to be eligible for the program, applicants must have a household income at or below 250 percent of the federal poverty level, be older than 18, be a current Chicago resident, and must have experienced an economic hardship from COVID-19. Only one member per household is entered into the lottery, according to the official site.
The pilot program plans to include 5,000 low-income households with winners selected through a lottery system. The deadline to apply is Map 13th. Find the application here. Sign up for updates on the program here.
