Public interest in women’s sports has skyrocketed in recent years thanks to stars like Caitlin Clark, Naomi Osaka, and many others.
Now, a group of local female entrepreneurs are stepping up to fill the demand—launching the first ever women’s sports-only sports bar in the Windy City.
Introducing Babes
Babes Sports Bar is the brainchild of best friends and former rugby players Nora McConnell-Johnson and Torra Spillane, according to Eater.
The bar will exclusively stream women’s sports, highlighting Chicago’s best female leagues like the Sky, Fire, and even the Windy City Rollers across 8 televisions.
Sports fans can also expect a curated list of craft beers, cocktails, and wines including a hibiscus-infused pale ale crafted by local brewery Marz Brewing.
Grand opening
Babes Sports Bar will officially open on Saturday, September 27, with a grand opening celebration at 3017 W. Armitage Ave.
The festivities kick off at 2 p.m. with a ribbon cutting and guest appearances from the Chicago Sky and Winds teams. Guests will also enjoy a free photo booth, flash tattoos, tooth gems, and other fun activations all night long.
