Every September, the leaves in the historic village of Long Grove gradually transition into shades of red, orange, and yellow; it’s a picturesque scene reminiscent of a Hallmark movie.
It’s the perfect fall escape from Chicago, and if you’re going to travel there, there’s an annual event you need to put on your radar that officially kicks off the fall season: the Apple Fest.
The Apple Fest returns with carnival games, endless treats, and Beatles tribute acts
The festival runs from Friday, September 25, through Sunday, September 27, and apples appear in just about every form imaginable: caramel-dipped, chocolate-covered, baked into pies, pressed into cider, and included in sweet and savory dishes from festival vendors, Long Grove restaurants, and specialty shops.
Besides the apple-inspired food, visitors can enjoy carnival rides, play midway games, enter apple pie-eating contests, listen to live music, and more.
Classic rock tributes will headline the fest
This year’s live music features a mix of classic and alternative rock. On Friday night, the lineup includes No More Tears, an Ozzy Osbourne tribute, followed by Kashmir, a Led Zeppelin tribute.
Saturday’s performances include tribute acts for Green Day, Sublime, Alanis Morissette, and Weezer, culminating with 7th Heaven.
The festival concludes Sunday with 2nd Hand News honoring Fleetwood Mac, followed by American English, one of the region’s most acclaimed Beatles tribute bands.
