The Fresh Market is set to open this week in the former Dom’s Kitchen and Market storefront in Lincoln Park, six months after the organic market shuttered its doors.
Dom’s abruptly ceased all operations in April, following the bankruptcy of its parent company Outfox Hospitality. Outfox also owned convenience store chain Foxtrot, which experienced similar mass closures.
Several Foxtrot locations have since reopened, but Dom’s does not appear to be making a comeback.
Luckily for fans of Dom’s, The Fresh Market occupies a similar niche, offering upscale organic groceries, ready made meals, fresh baked goods, and more.
The new Lincoln Park outpost will be the first Fresh Market location in Chicago. The North Carolina-based chain operates several suburban storefronts in Lake Forest, Naperville, and Evanston.
The store will host its grand opening at 8am Wednesday at 2730 N. Halsted St., according to Block Club Chicago. The event will feature giveaways, live music, and free snacks.
