Election day is here, and for those who haven’t voted early, today is the final day to cast your ballot and make your mark on history. Voting can be stressful, and there’s no shortage of stipulations when updating your voter registration on election day.

When do the polls open in Chicago?
All polling places in Chicago will be open from 6 am – 7 pm on election day.
Voters may vote at a designated precinct polling place or at one of Chicago’s 51 vote centers. All voters may cast their ballots at a vote center regardless of where in Chicago they live. Precinct polling places are specific to one’s address.
Where can I find my polling place?
Tracking down your polling place is made easy by the Illinois State Board of Elections. You can locate your polling place here, all you need to do is enter your zip code and address.
What if I moved recently?
If you recently moved, you’ll need to update your address at the corresponding polling place on election day. Voter law mandates that all residents must register to vote in a given precinct if they have lived there for 30 days or more.
If you have lived at your new address for 30 or more days, you must vote at the polling place associated with your new home.
What forms of identification are accepted to update my registration?
Voters must present two forms of ID to update their address, including one form of self identification (e.g. a driver’s license or passport) and one proof of residency.
