Big Boy 4014 takes Chicago

Big Boy 4014 will lumber into Chicagoland on Wednesday, June 3, as part of a historic, first-ever coast-to-coast tour, according to a release.
The locomotive dates back to 1941 and is the biggest of its kind anywhere in the world.
The occasion will include what Union Pacific calls a “major public display event,” in honor of the United State’s 250th anniversary.
Big Boy will also be accompanied by two commemorative locomotives and numerous historical passenger cars from Union Pacific’s Heritage Fleet.

“Union Pacific couldn’t be prouder to share this powerful piece of history with the nation and to be a part of America’s birthday celebration,” said Union Pacific CEO Jim Vena.
“This tour celebrates our company’s rich 164-year history, our nation’s amazing story and the people who have helped build our great country and our railroad.”
The Chicagoland public display will take place at the Larry S. Provo Union Pacific Training Center (335 Spencer St.) in West Chicago.
