Chicago has yet to see one of its famous significant snowstorms this winter—But today that changes!
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Chicago effective until 3am Thursday. Parts of the city will see around 3-6 inches of snow accumulation with a 100% chance of precipitation.
Areas along the north shore could see slightly higher accumulations due to the lake effect.
The snow will begin falling around 11am and continue into the early hours Thursday. Commuters should prepare for poor road conditions and reduced visibility as the snowfall will be heavy at times.
The snow will taper off by Thursday morning but will likely stick around as temperatures will only climb to 20 degrees during the day.
Chicago could see additional snowflakes on Friday and Saturday. Additionally, temperatures will plummet to the teens and single digits throughout the weekend.
