We’re about two thirds of the way through winter, and the seasonal weather isn’t over yet, but a warm-up could be on the horizon!
Chicago is set for back-to-back chances of snow in the lead up to the weekend, followed by a temperature spike at the start of next week.
Here’s everything to know.
Snow Thursday and Friday

Thursday and Friday will bring multiple rounds of snowfall, according to reports from the National Weather Service (NWS).
Scattered snow showers will move through the area between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday, with a 40% chance of snow and sleet between midnight and 3 a.m. Friday.
Friday will see a 30% chance of snow before noon, followed by winds up to 20 mph in the afternoon.
Saturday and Sunday will see cool, dry conditions with highs in the low 20s and 30s respectively.
Temperature jump Monday and Tuesday

By early next week, things will finally take a turn for the warmer.
Monday’s high will reach 40 degrees, according to the NWS, with plenty of sunshine. Tuesday will see partly sunny skies and a high of 42 degrees.
The warm-up will be short lived, however, with highs around the freezing mark for the remainder of next week.
