What is ‘We call it Drums’?
Music’s not just heard at ‘We call it Drums’, it’s seen. With every bang of the drum, LED lights flicker between colors to add vibrancy to the compositions being performed. Over the course of 60 minutes, five percussionists journey through the famous movie soundtracks we all know and love. From booming drum beats to gentle taps, the variety of drums sounds help transport audiences through cinema’s score history.
The three-act show features movie scores that have shaped the cinematic world, including the iconic sounds of the Star Wars soundtrack. Acts include a spellbinding drum solo, an explosive tribute to famous soundtracks and an epic conclusion to the evening. Accompanied by other-worldly light patterns, the performance is set to light up the night with color, sound and excitement.
Why are drums so powerful?
From rituals to festivals, drums have played an integral part in communal events and celebrations across cultures for thousands of years. They have the ability to stir emotions not only through sound but through physical feeling too. The vibrations that flow through the body often cause a visceral reaction — we might nod our heads or clap our hands, move our feet or wiggle our toes, sometimes without even realizing that we’re doing it.
‘We call it Drums’ isn’t just a live music show, it’s a captivating spectacle for the senses. Audiences hear timeless movie scores, witness a multicolored LED light show and feel the pulsating vibrations produced by the drums on stage.
Each show takes place over the course of 60 minutes and doors open 30 minutes prior to the show start time. Seats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis in each zone and late entry is not permitted, so we recommend getting to the venue with some time to spare.
