You’ve probably noticed the boxy food delivery robots zooming down side streets delivering meals in neighborhoods like Lakeview, West Loop, and Wicker Park. However, those aren’t the only self-driving vehicles arriving in Chicago recently.
Waymo was spotted in a downtown Chicago garage
According to a Reddit post, a fleet of Waymo vehicles has been spotted parked near the downtown Google office, lined up in a garage.
Additionally, an Instagram user shared a video of a delivery truck seen dropping off multiple Waymo cars in the River North neighborhood of Chicago on February 23rd.
Waymo is a self-driving car company owned by Alphabet Inc., and they currently operate fully driverless ride services in cities such as Phoenix, San Francisco, and Los Angeles.
While no official announcement has been made regarding their operations in Chicago, the sight of a whole lineup of Waymo vehicles parked downtown has generated a lot of excitement.
