The Kinkaid Lake Spillway is somewhat of a local secret when compared to more popular destinations near Chicago, such as Starved Rock State Park or Matthiessen State Park.
Initially designed to supply fresh water to the communities of Jackson County following a referendum in 1963, Kinkaid Lake has not only fulfilled its utilitarian purpose but also offered a wonderful recreational experience.
