If you already thought dating in Chicago was tough, just wait until a global pandemic hits. But there’s still hope!
With stay-at-home orders and fears of spreading illness, right now there are less opportunities for Chicago meet-cutes (or, realistically, meet-ups with your roommate’s blind dates). But there are still some super fun ways to get back out there in a low-key (and safe) way.
Fever Originals (who are behind beloved Chicago events like the Mad Hatter’s Gin & Tea Party) and “swipe for your friends” app Chorus have joined forces to bring Chicagoans an epic speed-dating experience that’s made for the time of coronavirus. And this isn’t your average, random swipe-left-and-rights. This is a safe and fun curated experience by matchmaking specialists.
Experts at Fever and Chorus will carefully select groups of six to eight people based on similar interests and beliefs to go on a group date together. Once you buy your tickets here, you’ll be asked to fill out a survey answering questions like which activities define you best, stand-out personality traits, and even general political views (yes, “I’m not political” is a choice!).
You’ll start off with a brief “Video Dating 101” session highlighting best practices, and then you’ll start “hanging” with your first group. As you chat with fellow Chicagoans via video conferencing, in a group that has been created especially for you based on your interests, a fun and engaging Chorus rep will also be on to help make sure conversations flow naturally. You’ll switch up groups throughout the event, and each no-pressure chat will only be about 15 minutes long.
And you don’t have to lift a finger (except to turn on your web cam)—they’ll manage assigning and rotating groups, and create a welcoming environment where participants feel comfortable, and of course, have tons of fun.
